9 Months Old!

I really never thought this would happen, but my babies are 9 months old today!!!! But no home photo shoot this week. Maybe next.

The mystery sickness is back. Sunday, Hudson woke up with a rash covering his entire body. So back to Dr. B for a total of 4 visits, another call to Nurse Jennie, a text to my swim lesson parent who is a pediatrician, and several calls to Dr. B's personal cell phone. (I do take bribes if anyone wants it.)  :) Basically, long story short, he got over the first stomach virus, and in some children the virus can cause a rash when it leaves. But then he got another virus, so they think..... so that is why his fever spiked again..... Please pray that Luke doesn't get sick too. Mommy needs a break.

Check out the swollen hands, my poor buddy.
Monday after going to the doctor.
Things look much better today!
Luke Today!

So, In the 9 months they have been alive I have learned a few things:
In some ways it is a blessing having twins first, because you have no clue and you just think life is normal with two babies. Change two diapers, make two bottles, dress two children, etc.

But the down side is... YOU HAVE NO CLUE.... so when one baby gets sick, we head to the doctor, when the other baby get sicks and show totally different signs, we head to the doctor.  The nurses and I are on a first name basis. Luke loves Nurse Kelly, and Hudson loves Nurse Debbie.

When you take twins to the doctor, you have to make 2 appointments, pay twice, and get one quick visit.  SO mostly, I try to just take one in, and give the medicine to both babies. Ohh, and don't try to sneak a quick peek on your other baby... they know if you paid or not.

People tell me all the time, "I don't know how you do it with two". This used to really bother me. I felt like I was really different, but now I just smile and say, "I don't know how you complain about only having one baby." (haha, its makes me feel better. )

And, lastly, just when you think your kid will never learn to really crawl, and he will shimmy his way around the entire house for the rest of his life... he will figure it out and crawl like a normal person. SO get the cute scooting on video! I'm still really sad I don't have either of them learning to crawl on video.

You really do forget how you lived on zero sleep for months on end. However, if you have a child with reflux/colic... you don't forget the screaming and pain they were in.

  3. Wow Suz ... you should have called me over to help. Cassie had a virus and a rash a couple of weeks ago (I think she picked it up at Sea World). She had tiny red bumps all over her sweet little body. I was told by her doctor and many others, that once they get it, they should be immune to the virus going forward. I sure hope that is right!!
