What have I done?!

So...
Hudson has been crib jumping for a few months. Not everyday. Not even every week. Just when he gets really ticked off about having to take a nap he will escape.  Dr. B said a month ago that we needed to put him in a toddler bed, but we delayed it, and delayed it. I mean, who wants 2 toddlers free in a room. I sure don't.

But then this past weekend at the beach, he managed to escape the pack n play, and that was our only means of any sanity.  I mean, sun, fun, wind, water, beach, toys, BB, cousins... it really wears them out, and then no naps because of the ninja moves... made me never want to go to the beach again.

However, I love Mondays because I get the boys back into 'my' routine. Well, not this week. Hudson being his ninja self, jumped out every day this week. 3 times a day. And yesterday he hurt himself. Blood coming out of his mouth and everything.

And then today, 3 times, with me standing at the door yelling at him... he finally fell asleep. I was outside moving water hoses around the yard trying to save our flower beds since our sprinkler system got murdered by the pool.  When I came back in, he was doing death scream at the bedroom door. This was the first time he has gotten out once he woke up.

So let's wrap this story up in pictures:

Thank you Daddy for going straight to work when you got home! He even 'ninja proofed' the bookcase and the dresser.  (I have this fear of Hudson getting out and climbing everything and then having it fall down on top of him.)

p.s. If you are reading this tonight, will you say a prayer for us right this second. I really don't want to be up 8 times tonight putting them back in bed. Oh gosh, what if it is 16 times. 8 for each kid. Oh please sleep well.

  1. Okay wow! Now I'm scared for the time to come for our babies to change to toddler beds. We have the same sort of rail that you change out. Are they in the same room? Mine are and I can imagine them playing and falling asleep on the floor. Chace climbs everything and I am scared he will be on top of the dresser. I think I may move the dressers into the closet for a while when the time comes. Then all that will be in there are the beds.

  5. We did the "get back in bed" yelling routine, which all turned to a fun chasing game, with our twins for far too long. I finally asked the pedi (at an unrelated appt.) for some advice. Duh! She said give timeouts in a room where we are not! It has worked WONDERS for us! Hope your boys cooperate soon! I can talk to you more if you want--email or call me. --Kristy Cheney

  6. I feel your pain and frustration! As you know, both Parker and Ben got moved to big boys beds at 16/17 months because of another baby on the way. For a while bed/nap time went smoothly. Right now, not so much. Ben and Parker just rile each other up. I have tried separating them (putting one in the guest room). Doesn't help. Yesterdays nap was battled for 2.5 hours with Parker...3.5 hours with Ben (who never went to sleep). We might be a little stubborn in this house. Maybe you will find the ultimate solution! Let me know!
