School Update

Miss Michelle is a saint.

About 3 or 4 weeks ago, on a Thursday, she said to me "I think I can get Hudson to nap here." I politely smiled and said "oh that would be great". Chuckled on the inside and then texted Brandon from the parking lot. And we both had a good laugh. Yeah right lady, do you KNOW Hudson?
Since we changed their cribs to toddler beds at 18 months... I have had to stay in the room until he falls asleep. Otherwise, he would just play... or destroy the room. (Remember when the dresser fell on him?)
Anyways, she wins. He naps for her. It is just amazing. She even took a picture on her phone to show me. He looked so peaceful.

Luke loves his new school too. He talks about his friends all the time. His stutter is even getting much better. I have noticed this week alone, it hardly happens. He loves to practice writing his name, and has even started working on how to write Hudson's name. He sings and dances to his chapel songs in the car. He even says some spanish words at home too.

Hudson doesn't cry during the school day. He is still sad to leave me at drop off, but I don't blame him. He doesn't say anything remotely scary like he used to. He doesn't freak out when he knows it is a school day. He even asks to pray for Miss Michelle. Last week he even asked her to come over to our house and play. He can read all his letters and numbers to 20.  He has several books memorized as well, so it appears as if he is reading them.

However, I think he has an amazing memory. Maybe even photographic. Anytime we pass the old school he gets all bent out of shape asking questions about it. Wanting to know if we have to go there. Will he have to go in that classroom again, or if Ms. T is inside there. He will not even say the other teachers name.  Every once in awhile he will ask to play with a child from that room. I feel bad. I really do think he may carry that memory with him for a long time to come.

The pastor of the church that is affiliated to the preschool reached out to me last week and asked if I would tell our story on camera for his capital campaign.  They are trying to raise money to expand the school and the academy. It truly is a blessing that we were able to get into this program, so I said yes, of course I would help.

I don't know if they will be able to use any of it, the boys were being so silly, and wouldn't talk. And then I could hardly focus because they were making toot noises behind my back and laughing.

Anyways, life in our house is much much better! Crazy how something like that can really wreck havoc on our little day to day life.

  1. I am so very happy for you guys! GB adores her teachers and her school - I know how important this is. And Miss Tally gets the GB to do all kinds of things that we can't possibly understand. Magical I tell ya. :)
