Lessons Learned

If you are a teacher, you will totally understand this. You know how sometimes when you are teaching a lesson and it started out great in your head and on paper, but once you got going it just kind of crashed and burned in front of you eyes. You have to completely stop what you are doing and just realize it isn't worth the battle to get to the finish.
Well, sometimes I think raising kids (twins) is like that. I feel like I have all these great ideas and when we actually do them it doesn't turn out like I thought it would. But every so often they surprise me and everything works like planned.
But here is my crash and burn lessons...
  • I bought new sippy cups today in hopes the boys would actually swallow the water rather than just chew on the top and spit the water out. The new sippy cup tops are hard, and they refused to even try them. They BOTH threw them to the floor in protest! Oh well, maybe next month. Back to the old ones!
  • A few months ago I tried cold turkey to get rid of the swaddling sacks, the boys had no idea it was even bed time and they were so confused. Well, we worked our way out of them FINALLY. I'm a little embarrassed that it took this long. But I think it was their security blanket. We now sleep in real pjs!

Before:

As of Yesterday:
I think I need to cut his footies open!
Luke still has to sleep with his blanket on his face!

However, I did also buy some self feeding spoons at BRU. And they LOVED them! I really like that it is reversible, and that its rubbery and chewy. They did a really good job putting the spoon in their mouths! So not everything crashes and burns!
