I have not talked about it to very many people. And I only kinda mentioned it on the blog.
I have been in serious denial.
No, it is not another baby.
I signed up to run a half marathon.
I hate running.
In high school I used to get pissed when Coach Howard would make the volleyball team run ONE mile on Monday mornings. And I ran it in 7 mins and 15 seconds and she told me I should have been faster.
I would kill to be able to run that fast now.
I seriously am not a runner.
I can sprint.
I can walk.
Ohhh I am a great walker.
13.1 miles.
What did I get myself into.
Oh, I know... most of you are like what?! Its only a HALF marathon. Not a FULL marathon.
Trust me, my goal is to not die.
AND
To actually run the whole thing without walking.
So, the first 4 weeks... I just showed up to the trainings. I didn't do my 'homework'. And I finished. (Not even last!) Well since getting back from the cruise I have stepped up my training. Apparently, you just can't show up and run 13 miles.
Saturday: 4.2miles (should have been 6 but I over slept and met my team on the side of the road)
Sunday: 3 miles
Monday: Nada
Tuesday: 3 miles in the am 3.2 in the pm
Wednesday: Nada
Today: 4 miles in the am, and 3.7 in the pm
Tomorrow: Zero
Saturday: 7 MILES God bless america. WTF? If you are up at 6:30 am say a little happy running thought for me.
I don't really know why I signed up for it. I had one very persistent friend (she quit blogging, but I have known her since my Zeta days). Who is actually a runner. And has done this before. And now, its like I have reached the point of no return. Brandon has been running with me in the evenings. And he is having no problem and he pushes 100 extra pounds of stroller/2 year olds. Seriously, he is just good like that.
So, here is my new motto:
It may not be pretty... but I AM doing it.
And I gave Brandon a list of prizes I want for completing it. He said they were all solid requests. Because lets be really honest... I need prizes to keep my feet moving.
#1 - I want to know what your prizes are, sounds fun!
ReplyDelete#2 - I'll be there to cheer you on! Promise!
#3 - You've just added more reasons I think you are a rock star!
Dude you go girl! Been there, done that, got the TShirt. And will NEVER do it again! It was brutal but hey at least you'll be able to check it off your list and you will feel like a rock star afterwards. I will be praying for you! When and where Is it???
ReplyDeleteYou CAN do it!!! I'm so excited for you!!
ReplyDeleteYou can totally do it!!! :)
ReplyDeleteI was NOT a runner either, now I can't stop! Word of warning...it's addictive! You'll do great!
