I'm a Baby Food Makin' Machine!

Have you ever seen that movie with Diane Keaton where she moves to the country to raise a baby she adopted and ends up making all this baby food from her apple orchard. What is the name of that movie?
Anyways, I felt like her today!
Brandon got me the Beaba Babycook for Christmas along with a Baby Food Cookbook. (Because lets be honest, I AM the person who needs to be told how to puree stuff.)
Well, this machine is amazing.
 WHY:
1. Because I don't have time to clean a steamer, a pot, and a food processor machine
2. Because it is fool proof
3. Because it doesn't take up hardly any cabinet space.

Anyways, back to today (and that movie I still can't remember the name to....)
My mom came over and spent the day with the babies so I took advantage of it!
Because I make my own baby food, I buy a lot of fresh produce. So I tried to start a Farmers Market Co-Op in my neighborhood. It would have been perfect. You pay $10.00 every other week, and you get a large amount of produce. But the down side is, it's kind of a commitment and people don't understand what it is. I needed 12 people to join my co-op, and I could only get 7.
So,  I joined this other co-op. But it isn't really a co-op at all. This Aggie does all the shopping and splits it all up and delivers it to your door step each week. It has its advantages. It's all organic. (The other is not.) I don't have to do any work. And you can quit at anytime. Plus, who doesn't love opening your front door and seeing a green bag of yummy healthy goodies??
If you are interested and live in the Houston Metropolitan Area, you can join to. It's really easy. Here is the site:   http://houstonfreshdirect.blogspot.com/
In our bag we received green beans, carrots, red bell pepper, onion, garlic, mushrooms, ears of corn, Roma tomatoes,  strawberries, apples, kiwis, grapefruits, oranges, pears, and a thing of romaine lettuce. And that was the small mixed basket. I was pretty happy with everything we got!
So, I was running low on baby food and decided to get to work. Today I made apple puree, carrot puree, and cauliflower puree. Tomorrow will be green bean day!
Back to my point... I can make a lot of baby food!

The boys have eaten:
Green Bean Puree (hate it)
Sweet Pea Puree (love it)
Pear Puree (LOVE it)
Apple Puree (Like it)
Carrot Puree (hate it)
Sweet Potato Puree (LOVE it)
Zucchini Puree (LOVE it) which is strange cause B and I both thought it was nasty
Cauliflower Puree (like it)
oh and they suck on strawberries in those mesh foodie things... LOVE STRAWBERRIES!

And because I have the cutest twins, here are some new hats (for next winter) complements of Shirley Brown! Thank you Shirley, we love them!
Can you name my baby?
Who am I????

Answer:

  2. I got a Beaba for my first mother's day! I love it, too! I did the whole organic thing with it too! I got a different cookbook though that I really like... of course I can't think of the name. My problem was when I got on a baby food making spree it wouldn't freeze fast enough and I only had one of those little rubbery things... What are those little cups you have pictured?

  3. Ooo that looks like so much fun! That is wonderful that you can have your groceries delivered! We do the same and it is so helpful...one less thing to do in the week! I'm sure that is helpful with your two!

P.S. crazy how they look sooo much alike with hats on! Love them!

  5. I've been meaning to research about local coops in the city for months now. It sounds like such a great idea and I can't always make it to the farmer's market on the weekends. If they deliver in Houston, they have to deliver in NYC. Very impressive.
